Suryaa Telangana Desk: An awareness program was organized at an Anganwadi center in the Kattangur mandal headquarters on Tuesday to mark World Breastfeeding Week.
ICDS Supervisor Sharada Rani stated that it is essential for mothers to feed newborns colostrum immediately after birth. She noted that breast milk contains necessary nutrients and plays a key role in building a child's immunity. She encouraged mothers to breastfeed to contribute to a healthy society.
Following the awareness session, an Annaprasana ceremony was conducted for children. The event was attended by Kattangur Sarpanch Mukkamala Shyamala Shekhar, ward members Mainam Uma, Enugu Saidulu, Srirama Sandhya, Kallem Nageswara Rao, Anganwadi teachers, nursing mothers, and pregnant women.
