Government Offices and Educational Institutions to Remain Closed
As per the district administration’s announcement, all government offices located within the Thiruvalla taluk will observe the local holiday on November 2.
The holiday will also apply to educational institutions, including anganwadis, schools, colleges and professional educational institutions operating in the taluk.
The decision has been taken in view of the large number of devotees expected to visit Parumala for the annual celebrations.
Parumala Perunnal Celebrations
The annual Parumala Perunnal is held at Parumala Church in Pathanamthitta district in memory of Saint Gregorios of Parumala.
The celebrations attract devotees from different parts of Kerala and other states. This year’s festivities are being held from October 26 to November 2, with November 2 marking the main commemorative day.
Special Arrangements for Devotees
With thousands of devotees expected to gather at Parumala, authorities have made arrangements focusing on security, traffic management and crowd control.
Police and local administration officials are expected to closely monitor the movement of vehicles and pilgrims around the church and surrounding areas during the main day of the celebrations.
The local holiday is expected to provide some relief from regular traffic and administrative activity in the Thiruvalla taluk during the major religious gathering.
Students and employees are advised to check with their respective institutions regarding any examinations or special activities scheduled for November 2.
