Suryaa International Desk: Semiconductor company AMD has entered into strategic agreements with OpenAI and Meta Platforms to expand its presence in the artificial intelligence sector. Recent reports indicate that these large-scale AI chip procurement deals have resulted in a quarterly financial charge of approximately $1.07 billion for AMD.

This non-cash expense was recorded due to the allocation of equity warrants to OpenAI and Meta as part of the agreements. AMD is implementing an equity-for-orders model to secure future large-scale sales of AI chips. Under these terms, OpenAI and Meta will purchase AMD AI chips for their data center requirements, and in exchange, the companies have received equity options to acquire stakes in AMD.

While these agreements may lead to some dilution for shareholders, market analysts view this as a significant step for the company. Experts suggest these partnerships provide a foundation for AMD's future growth and position the company as a strong alternative to Nvidia in the AI chip market. AMD’s recent quarterly results showed record revenue from its data center division, and the company's shares have gained value following these developments.
