Suryaa Sports Desk: In a rare incident during a Women's Big Bash League match between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Renegades, a bowler was penalized with a no-ball due to an error committed by the wicketkeeper.
While bowler Nicola Carey was delivering the ball, wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee moved her gloves in front of the stumps line before the ball had passed the batter or the wickets. Under the rules established by the Marylebone Cricket Club, specifically Law 27.3, a wicketkeeper must remain entirely behind the stumps from the moment the ball is delivered until it passes the striker's end wickets.
Because the wicketkeeper's gloves crossed the stumps line, the umpire declared a no-ball. This resulted in a penalty for the bowler despite her not committing any infraction herself. The decision drew surprise from both players and spectators at the venue.
