Suryaa Business Desk: Global law firm A&O Shearman has announced a plan to expand its use of artificial intelligence technology. International media reports indicate the firm intends to invest approximately $1.1 billion, or nearly £820 million, into a new AI strategy over the next five years.

The investment plan includes a requirement for every practice department within the firm to dedicate at least 3 percent of its billable time to the development and design of AI tools. The firm aims to modernize traditional legal services to provide faster and more accurate results for clients.

Having previously developed software platforms such as ContractMatrix, the firm is now focusing on integrating AI agents to assist with complex corporate transactions, cross-border disputes, and regulatory advice to increase productivity. Analysts suggest that this move by A&O Shearman may influence other international law firms as the legal industry adapts to changing global technology trends.
