Suryaa Business Desk: Global fast fashion retailer Shein is adjusting its European market strategy in response to new parcel taxes and import regulations introduced by the European Union. The company has officially announced plans to invest approximately $500 million in Poland to establish a new logistics and distribution hub.

Shein aims to use this regional center to expedite shipments to EU countries and reduce the impact of additional tax burdens. The company’s shift in business model follows concerns raised by EU nations regarding the previous practice of shipping low-cost parcels directly from China to European consumers. The EU is moving toward abolishing exemptions on low-value imports, prompting Shein to establish local warehouses and hubs to comply with regional regulations.

The new facility is expected to provide employment opportunities and improve delivery times for customers. This investment comes as Western countries increase regulations on Chinese e-commerce companies. Market analysts suggest that by strengthening local supply chains, Shein intends to maintain its market share in Europe while navigating challenges from competitors and local government tariff policies.
