Suryaa National Desk: A major incident occurred at the Jolarpettai railway junction in the Tirupattur district of Tamil Nadu, where seven empty train coaches rolled away from a railway yard without an engine. The coaches traveled approximately six kilometers along the track before derailing near the Thamalerri area.

According to local reports, the coaches were stationed on a siding line at the Jolarpettai junction yard. The movement is attributed to a potential technical fault, the failure to properly engage handbrakes, or the slope of the track. The coaches gained speed as they moved toward the main line, causing concern among station staff and trackmen.

No passenger trains were approaching at the time, preventing a major tragedy. The incident caused minor disruptions to train services on the Chennai-Bengaluru main line. Railway safety officials and technical teams arrived at the scene to initiate track restoration work. The railway department has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident to determine if the derailment was caused by staff negligence or a failure of the braking system, specifically questioning why safety clamps were not applied to the wheels of the parked coaches.
