Suryaa National Desk: Officials at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations in Imphal held a high-level review meeting to discuss the department's performance and communication strategies. During the meeting, senior officials emphasized the need for increased speed in the dissemination of government welfare schemes and official information.
The department highlighted that in the digital age, comprehensive news coverage is essential. Officials stressed the importance of promoting the use of the Manipuri (Meetei) language to preserve local identity. They noted that providing factual information regarding government policies, development programs, and law and order to the public can effectively curb the spread of misinformation and rumors.
To achieve this, the department plans to utilize social media and digital platforms alongside traditional media. Officials suggested that press notes and official announcements should be translated into Manipuri and local tribal dialects to improve public awareness.
Journalists and public relations officers have been directed to adopt modern technology to accelerate news coverage. The meeting also concluded with decisions to strengthen district-level information centers and conduct special awareness campaigns to ensure government scheme details are accessible to people in remote areas.
