Suryaa International Desk: Thousands of people and students gathered in Novi Sad, Serbia, to pay tribute to the victims of a railway station tragedy on its second anniversary. Two years ago, on November 1, a concrete canopy at the entrance of the newly renovated railway station collapsed, resulting in the deaths of 16 people.

At 11:52 a.m., the exact time the incident occurred, crowds gathered at the site to observe 16 minutes of silence for the 16 victims. Despite the rain, students and youth held a silent march through the streets of Novi Sad, demanding punishment for those responsible. Family members of the deceased gathered at the site to place flowers and banners in memory of their loved ones.

Public anger over the incident, which was attributed to government negligence and corruption, sparked a nationwide student movement. This movement played a significant role in the recent general elections, contributing to the defeat of the long-standing government. Newly elected leaders and student organizations have expressed confidence that this political shift will lead to transparency and justice for the victims.
