Suryaa Business Desk: Teva Pharmaceuticals has announced the discontinuation of mid-stage clinical trials for its experimental drug, Emrusolmin, which was being developed to treat the rare neurological disorder Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
The company decided to halt the Phase 2 study following a recommendation from an independent data monitoring committee. The committee indicated that the study was unlikely to meet its primary endpoints if it were to continue.
Emrusolmin was being developed to address the symptoms of MSA, a condition that causes loss of coordination, balance, and muscle stiffness. Teva clarified that this decision is based on an interim predictive assessment rather than a final efficacy analysis.
The company stated that no safety concerns were identified during the interim review. Teva intends to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the drug program, which is being developed in partnership with MODAG GmbH.
