Suryaa National Desk: The central government has launched the Khet Bachao Abhiyaan to promote sustainable agricultural practices and protect farmland. The initiative aims to restore soil fertility, which has been declining due to the long-term use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The Union Ministry of Agriculture is implementing this plan to raise awareness among farmers about soil health and encourage the adoption of organic and natural farming methods. The campaign addresses concerns regarding the loss of soil microorganisms and reduced productivity caused by excessive chemical usage.

As part of the initiative, the government is strengthening the Soil Health Card scheme by organizing village-level camps to help farmers test nutrient levels in their soil. Scientists are providing training on modern cultivation methods that balance nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels while conserving groundwater.

Farmers are being encouraged to reduce their reliance on chemical fertilizers by increasing the use of bio-fertilizers, green manure, and natural compost. The government stated that these practices are intended to increase crop productivity, lower cultivation costs, and improve the quality of food grains for public health. This movement is also intended to ensure the long-term fertility of land for future generations.
