Suryaa News Desk: An awareness program on electricity conservation was held for students at the local Government Women’s Degree College in Araku Valley on Tuesday. The event was organized as part of the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week, following instructions from college principal Dr. R. Kusumakumari.
As part of the program, unnecessary lights, fans, and other electrical appliances were switched off at the college between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM to demonstrate energy saving. Students were educated on methods to reduce electricity consumption in residential homes, energy conservation, and eco-friendly cooling practices.
During the event, Principal Dr. R. Kusumakumari stated that it is everyone's responsibility to use electricity sparingly rather than wasting it. She noted that small savings can help protect the environment and urged everyone to contribute to environmental preservation. The principal emphasized that it is beneficial for students to be aware of electricity conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable lifestyles. College faculty, non-teaching staff, and students participated in the program.
