Suryaa Business Desk: MCPI(U) State Secretary Gadhagoni Ravi has demanded that the state government utilize 550 acres of government land located in survey numbers 100 and 101 in Miyapur, Serilingampally mandal, for public interest rather than selling it. He further requested that the government grant housing titles to the residents of Stalin Nagar and Muzaffar Ahmed Nagar colonies to provide them with legal status.
Gadhagoni Ravi, along with leaders from various left-wing parties, visited the colonies and held a meeting with local residents. During the event, Ravi recalled that in 1994, Comrade Maddikayala Omkar questioned the government regarding the encroachment of these lands in the Legislative Assembly. He noted that a three-member commission appointed by the government in 1996 confirmed that the lands belonged to the government. He stated that past movements were organized with the goal of securing housing sites for the poor.
The leaders urged the government to prioritize public needs over generating revenue through land sales. CPM State Secretariat member D.G. Narasimha Rao called for a halt to the sale of government lands, emphasizing that the government should prioritize the interests of the people.
CPI(ML) New Democracy Central Committee member J.V. Chalapathi Rao stated that left parties have been fighting for the housing rights of the poor for decades and warned that the public would respond if the government continues with policies deemed anti-people. CPI(ML) Massline State Secretariat member Hanmesh and SUCI(C) State Committee member Johnny Pasha also demanded that the land not be handed over to real estate developers.
The event was attended by various left-wing leaders, including MCPI(U) Politburo members Vallepu Upender Reddy and Morthala Chandrarao, along with state secretariat members and colony representatives.
