Suryaa Sports Desk: Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of South Africa due to a severe ankle injury. The injury occurred while he was fielding during the second Test match against the West Indies.

While attempting to stop the ball near the boundary line, Shadman slipped on the turf, resulting in a severe sprain to his left ankle. He was removed from the field on a stretcher and taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Initial medical examinations suggest the possibility of a fracture alongside muscle weakness.

Shadman’s absence is a setback for the Bangladesh team, as he was in good form during the initial Tests. His unavailability for the remainder of the current match against the West Indies and the upcoming South Africa series is expected to impact the team's batting lineup.

Reports indicate that young player Mahfijul Islam Robin may be selected as a replacement for the South Africa tour. It is expected that Shadman will require time to recover before returning to the field.
