Suryaa International Desk: Global brokerage firm Jefferies has issued a report warning that the surge in investments within the artificial intelligence sector may soon reach its peak. The analysis highlights that major technology companies, including Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, and Amazon, are collectively allocating approximately one trillion dollars toward AI data centers and advanced chips.

The report states that if these substantial expenditures do not generate corresponding business returns, the market value of these technology companies could face significant pressure. Jefferies noted that these firms are expanding infrastructure at a faster rate than their current business growth, while direct cash flows from AI services for corporate clients have yet to materialize.

Factors such as the rapid obsolescence of servers and hardware, power shortages for data centers, and rising operational costs are impacting profit margins. The report estimates that if new AI products fail to generate revenue in line with market expectations, companies may be forced to reduce capital expenditures within the next one to two years.

While semiconductor manufacturers like Nvidia have benefited from these investments, market observers suggest that any decline in the profitability of cloud service providers could impact the entire tech supply chain. Experts warn that continued delays in achieving returns on these investments could increase investor dissatisfaction. Consequently, the report advises investors to evaluate actual cash flows and AI revenue growth rather than relying solely on company announcements when making investment decisions.
