Suryaa News Desk: Residents of Piduguralla have raised serious allegations against local firecracker retailers, claiming that businesses are exploiting customers with excessive pricing during the Diwali season. The shops identified in the complaints include Trikoteswara Crackers, Kanakadurga Crackers, and Sivakasi Crackers.

According to public allegations, these establishments have formed a syndicate to sell firecrackers at prices significantly higher than the printed Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Reports indicate that items with an MRP of Rs 100 are being sold for Rs 200 to Rs 250. Consumers further allege that shopkeepers are placing new price stickers over the original MRP and failing to provide bills for purchases. It is claimed that these businesses are conducting large-scale transactions without documentation, thereby evading taxes. Additionally, there are complaints that low-quality firecrackers are being sold under the guise of established Sivakasi brands.

Local residents have expressed frustration over the perceived inaction of government officials. Allegations have emerged that authorities conduct inspections only to collect bribes, leading to accusations that the administrative machinery is neglecting its duties.

In response, the public is demanding that the Palnadu District Collector, the Piduguralla Tahsildar, and the police department conduct joint inspections. Their demands include the mandatory display of price lists in front of every shop, the provision of bills for all transactions, and the cancellation of licenses for those selling products above the MRP. Residents have warned that if officials fail to address these grievances, they will escalate the matter to the consumer forum and higher authorities.
