Suryaa News Desk: Farmers in Anaparthi are facing severe distress as ongoing rains continue to damage paddy crops already impacted by a recent cyclone. The crops, which were nearing harvest, are becoming soaked in rainwater, leaving farmers unable to proceed with harvesting.

While the government is currently accepting applications for compensation at Rythu Bharosa Kendras for losses incurred during the cyclone, the persistent rainfall is causing further damage to the remaining crops. Farmers report that the flattened state of the crops in the fields makes them vulnerable to water damage, raising concerns that the quality of the grain and overall yields will be significantly affected.

The financial burden of agricultural loans, fertilizers, pesticides, and labor costs has left farmers worried about the recovery of their investments. Farmers state that consecutive natural disasters have pushed their livelihoods into a crisis.

Local farmers are urging officials from the agriculture and revenue departments to visit the fields to assess the damage caused by both the recent cyclone and the current rains. They are requesting a comprehensive evaluation of the losses and are calling for immediate compensation for all affected farmers, alongside measures to protect the grain from further damage.
