Suryaa Business Desk: India’s corporate and financial markets are witnessing several important developments, with major companies reporting quarterly performance, updating business outlooks and responding to changing market conditions. Apple India has reported a strong financial performance for fiscal year 2026, with revenue crossing the ₹1 lakh crore mark. The company’s India revenue increased 32% during the fiscal year, while net profit rose 66% to ₹5,311 crore. The performance highlights the growing importance of the Indian market for the global technology company.

The Indian information technology sector is also attracting attention following the latest quarterly updates from Infosys. The company’s voluntary attrition rate declined to 12.7% in the second quarter of FY27 from 13% in the previous quarter and 14.3% a year earlier. Infosys also increased its employee headcount to 332,542, supported by the addition of around 8,000 freshers. At the same time, the company reduced its FY27 constant-currency revenue growth guidance to between 1% and 2%, compared with the earlier range of 1.5% to 3%.

In the oil and energy sector, BPCL has reported a significant improvement in profitability during the second quarter of FY27. The company posted a net profit of ₹4,993 crore, compared with a loss of ₹3,962 crore in the previous quarter. EBITDA also recovered to ₹8,971 crore, although revenue declined by around 1.5% sequentially. The latest results come amid continued attention on crude oil prices, refining margins and the broader energy market.

The Reserve Bank of India is also closely watching developments in the foreign exchange market. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has said that India has adequate foreign exchange reserves to meet FCNR(B) deposit repayments while reiterating the central bank’s focus on maintaining orderly movements in the rupee and ensuring price stability. Meanwhile, the automobile and tyre sectors remain under pressure from elevated raw material costs. JK Tyre has indicated a possible 4–5% price increase in the third quarter, after reporting a sharp decline in consolidated profit during the July–September quarter. These developments are expected to remain important for investors and businesses as the earnings season progresses.
