Hyderabad: Shares of Cyient Ltd. came into focus after the engineering and technology services company reported a strong sequential performance for the second quarter of FY27. The stock gained sharply during trading, with investors responding to improved revenue growth and a significant expansion in operating margins.

Cyient reported revenue of ₹2,235 crore for the July-September quarter, compared with ₹2,076 crore in the previous quarter, representing a 7.7% quarter-on-quarter increase. On a year-on-year basis, revenue increased by around 25.5%.

The company's operating performance also improved considerably. EBITDA increased to ₹228.3 crore, compared with ₹187.7 crore in the preceding quarter. The EBITDA margin consequently expanded to 10.21% from 9.04% quarter-on-quarter.

Net Profit Rises Sequentially

Cyient's consolidated net profit stood at approximately ₹121 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹104 crore in the previous quarter. This represents a 16.6% sequential increase.

However, compared with the year-ago period, net profit declined by around 4.8%, according to results-based data. The year-on-year comparison was affected by changes in other income and a higher effective tax rate.

The improvement in operating profitability was therefore one of the key highlights of the quarter.

DET Business Drives Growth

Cyient's Digital, Engineering & Technology (DET) business continued to be an important growth driver.

DET revenue in rupee terms increased to ₹1,664 crore, up 8.1% sequentially and 15.7% year-on-year. The segment's EBIT margin improved to 14.2%, its strongest level in 10 quarters, supported by operating leverage and cost-control measures.

The company also reported strong order momentum during the quarter, particularly across engineering, semiconductor and technology-related businesses.

Interim Dividend Announced

Alongside its quarterly results, Cyient announced an interim dividend of ₹12 per equity share for FY27. The dividend was declared at 240% of the ₹5 face value of each share.

The dividend announcement adds another positive element for shareholders following the company's quarterly performance.

Stronger Operating Outlook

Cyient's Q2 performance points to improving operational efficiency, with revenue growth accompanied by expansion in profitability. The company has highlighted opportunities across engineering services, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and design-led manufacturing.

The company also reported record quarterly order intake for its DET business, indicating continued demand for its engineering and technology capabilities.

For investors, the key factors to watch going forward will be the sustainability of margin expansion, order-book conversion, semiconductor demand and growth across the company's digital engineering businesses.
