Suryaa Telangana Desk: Following government directives, the agriculture department has begun collecting data on dried crops and crop losses across all villages in Chintapally mandal, which has been declared a drought-affected mandal. Mandal Agriculture Officer P. Sravan Kumari stated that the assessment process was conducted on Thursday.
Agriculture Extension Officers are visiting fields to record details of affected farmers and register crop information. Farmers are requested to remain available to provide necessary details to the extension officers and cooperate with the department during this assessment.
Regarding the Yasangi season, officials have advised farmers against cultivating paddy due to the impact of El Nino, which has led to depleting groundwater levels and a risk of crops drying up. Farmers are encouraged to adopt crop diversification and focus on cultivating dryland crops instead. Additionally, subsidized seeds for green gram and black gram are available, and interested farmers may contact their local agriculture extension officers.
