Suryaa National Desk: The central government has introduced a key relaxation regarding Bharat Series (BH) number plates, allowing the facility to be extended to existing vehicles. Previously, this option was available only at the time of purchasing new vehicles. This change allows vehicles currently registered with other state number plates to be converted to the BH series.

This facility is applicable to central and state government employees, defense personnel, and employees of private sector companies that have offices in at least four states or union territories. The BH series is designed to assist employees who frequently transfer between states, helping them avoid the difficulties of re-registration and the process of obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Eligible vehicle owners can apply to the transport department to convert their existing registration to the BH series by submitting Form 27A. Applicants must also provide an employment verification document, such as a working certificate or Form 60, and pay the required road tax. Once a vehicle is registered under the BH series, it does not require re-registration when moving to another state. Road tax for these vehicles must be paid online every two years.
