Suryaa National Desk: The United Nations Environment Programme has expressed concern over a significant gap between the actual requirements for climate adaptation funding and the allocations provided by wealthy nations, as per the regulations of the Paris Agreement and international climate summits. Experts state that these funds are essential for poor countries to protect themselves against rising sea levels, severe droughts, floods, and unpredictable storms.

The report reveals that while the annual adaptation needs of developing countries reach hundreds of billions of dollars, the international funding received is limited to a nominal percentage. The UN warned that due to a shortage of financial resources, developing nations are facing severe difficulties in improving infrastructure and protecting lives.

Environmentalists are concerned that if this financial gap is not addressed immediately, humanity will face serious climate threats in the future. The report calls for wealthy nations, which are primarily responsible for historical emissions, to fulfill their financial obligations and accelerate international cooperation.
