Suryaa Entertainment Desk: The upcoming socio-fantasy film Mahashakti, starring Nayanthara in a dual role, has faced social media backlash following the release of its trailer. Produced by Vels International, director Sundar C, and Nayanthara with a budget of approximately 100 crore rupees, the film also features Regina Cassandra in a key role. It is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6.

Netizens criticized the film's visual effects and graphics, alleging that the production used artificial intelligence (AI) to cut costs rather than allocating a proper budget. Addressing these claims during a pre-release event in Chennai, director Sundar C expressed his disappointment, stating that the hard work of the visual effects artists should not be undermined.

Sundar C clarified that approximately 400 CGI artists worked for a year and a half to design the visuals. He stated that out of 3,000 total CGI shots in the film, AI technology was used for only 15 shots. He emphasized that all other visuals were created using traditional methods by visual effects experts. He noted that spreading claims that the entire film was made cheaply using AI is an insult to the technicians' efforts.

While acknowledging that audiences have the right to criticize the output or visuals if they are dissatisfied, the director stated that it is inappropriate to disregard the labor of industry artists. He expressed confidence that the film, which centers on a divine concept with extensive visual effects, will provide a new experience for viewers in theaters. The film's performance at the box office remains to be seen following its November 6 release.
