Suryaa Telangana Desk: Rajya Sabha Member and National BC Welfare Association President R. Krishnaiah met with Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal in New Delhi. During this courtesy call, Krishnaiah submitted a memorandum regarding the development of BC communities, the welfare of BC students, and the inclusion of a caste census in the upcoming national census.
Krishnaiah requested that the central government release timely scholarships and fee reimbursement funds to ensure BC students face no obstacles in their higher education. He further appealed for special central grants and funds to be allocated for the construction of permanent buildings for BC welfare schools, residential schools, and degree colleges.
Regarding the demand for a transparent caste census, Krishnaiah urged that an OBC column be included in the upcoming national census forms to collect comprehensive population data. He stated that this would ensure justice for BC communities in education, employment, and budget allocations proportional to their population.
Krishnaiah requested that Minister Piyush Goyal bring these issues to the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to facilitate a resolution. The delegation included National BC Welfare Association Telangana State Convener Lal Krishna Prasad, state spokesperson Doddi Palli Raghupathi, and leader Yadagiri. According to the representatives, the Minister responded positively to the issues raised.
