Suryaa Andhra Pradesh Desk: Surya State Crime Bureau Tirupati: Sewage politics has reached its peak in the holy city of Tirupati. Rs. Amrut (AMRUT) scheme to be started at a huge cost of 35 crores... Surya State Crime Bureau The politics of sewage in the holy city of Tirupati has reached its peak. Rs. Political poison has been spilled in the works of Amrut (AMRUT) scheme which was to be started with a huge expenditure of 35 crores. Even after a hundred days have passed since the completion of the tenders, the authorities are not daring to open the commissions (percentages) as the panchayat has not settled. As a result, the central government's funds are being soaked in the sewer, while the local people are suffering from the stench. As part of the Amrit Scheme-2 undertaken by the Central Government, under the first phase, for conversion of Tirupati-Renigunta pipeline, Rs. 35 crores has been sanctioned.

To this extent the authorities have invited tenders. Tenders were called on April 19 this year for laying a new pipeline of about 6,500 meters, and by June 19, three prominent companies had filed tenders. Bangalore-based 'KBR Infra' company, Tirupati district-based 'JMC' and Guntur-based 'Raghuram Home Pipes' companies participated in these tenders. Among these, Bangalore-based KBR Infra Company not only has all the qualifications, but also quotes at the lowest price as per the norms. Even if a qualified firm quotes low, the barrier of 'percentages' becomes a headache to start these works. The controversy did not end when the contractor's factions did not accept the bribe demanded by the officials. As a result, the authorities did not dare to open the tender even after 100 days passed. Although IAS officer Jayakrishna, who is serving as Municipal Commissioner, is fully aware of this matter, it is noteworthy that no initiative has been taken so far in the matter of opening the tenders. It is enough that the rainy season has come, and the sewage water on the Renigunta road is overflowing onto the roads and forming ponds. Due to this, passengers and motorists are facing serious accidents.

As the Tirupati underground drainage pipeline has been severely damaged, the entire pipeline from Ekanthe Bliss Hotel on Renigunta Road to Tukivakam Sewage Filter Tank, which is about 7 km away, has to be completely replaced. The central government's main objective is to complete the works on a permanent basis without any problems arising for the next 50 years. Through the construction of this new pipeline, sewage treatment (STP) will be provided to the industries by the Municipal Corporation at Rs. 3 to Rs. 5 is likely to be sold. Purified water can already be provided to suit the needs of industries in Renigunta, Srikalahasti and Tirupati areas. If not used by industries, this water can be used by farmers for cultivation of crops. Till now they have been playing around in the name of percentages, but now the officials are acting more carelessly on the pretext of being busy with the elections. There has been widespread criticism of the Central Government for draining the most ambitiously allocated funds and subjecting the people to eternal hell.
