Suryaa Sports Desk: Darren Sammy, the head coach of the West Indies cricket team on the tour of India, said that the failure of the powerplay overs is taking away the matches. The West Indies cricket team's failure in powerplay overs is taking away the matches for the visiting West Indies cricket team, said Darren Sammy, the team's head coach. He told the media on Tuesday that to beat Team India on Indian soil, both the batting and bowling powerplays at the beginning of the innings must be won.
Sammy analyzed that while playing against the Indian team, the opponent could not score runs in the first 6 overs or the West Indies batsmen were under pressure due to the loss of wickets in the beginning. He admitted that the lack of balanced aggression in the powerplay was the root cause of the defeats. He reminded that in order to counter attack against a top team like India, plans must be implemented on the ground and mere words are not enough.
He made it clear to the team members that the bowlers should follow a disciplined line and length and the top order batsmen should take advantage of the powerplay opportunities and build huge partnerships.
