The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing an unexpected challenge in a new form on the Indian political stage. Educated youth across the country, especially students of the 'Gen-Z' generation, are taking to the streets in large numbers to voice their protest. The youth is expressing anger over key issues like lack of employment opportunities, irregularities in government exams, question paper leakages, paper leak mafia and rising unemployment.
Without the support of any political party or traditional student unions, Gen-Ji students, who are voluntarily uniting based on social media, have been staging peaceful mass demonstrations in major cities. For the government, which has faced many political heats in the past, this youth movement, which has no specific political imprint, has created a big problem. The student world is deeply disappointed with the lack of transparency in the recruitment of government jobs and lack of suitable employment for lakhs of graduates. Students are taking out huge rallies in metro cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata as well as cities in key states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh seeking a solution to the problems. Their slogans of "what is accountability for our future" are trending across the country on social media.
With these democratic protests being raised by the Gen-Ji generation, the movement in the central government started. Observing the situation, the senior officials of the Union Home Department and Education Department are closely monitoring the intensity of the student protests. The political atmosphere has become more heated as the opposition parties are also making announcements in support of these unemployment protests. Political analysts believe that if youth agitations are not pacified by the time of the upcoming elections, there is a possibility of severe negative results. In this context, the central government is taking steps towards speeding up the recruitment process of government jobs and preparing a concrete plan to solve the problems of the youth.
