The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully showcased indigenously developed state-of-the-art semiconductor technologies at the prestigious 'STIC-2026' conference.

DRDO led a key technical session on design and manufacturing of generation-changing next-gen chips at the conference. On this platform, the scientists explained the progress achieved in developing advanced electronic components with indigenous know-how towards a self-reliant India in the field of defence. In line with the government's ambition to make India a global semiconductor hub, DRDO's research is further strengthening the country's defense capabilities. Scientists are taking steps towards indigenously manufacturing advanced microchips used in radars, guided missiles, communication systems and artificial intelligence-based defense equipment.

The conference discussed the achievements in creating domestic chip technology with the highest safety standards and reducing dependence on foreign technology. The indigenous semiconductor prototypes exhibited by DRDO were a major attraction in the conference which was attended by international experts, industrial giants and academic researchers in large numbers. These indigenous chips will be crucial for manufacturing digital weapons and electronic munitions that will change the tactics of warfare in the future. Officials said that the conference will provide a platform to further promote public-private partnership in defense research and develop cutting-edge semiconductor industries in the country.
