The central government has given a huge gift to the rice donors of the country on the occasion of Diwali festival. The Center has officially released the 24th tranche of funds under the highly ambitious 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi' (PM-KISAN) scheme.

Through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, more than nine crore eligible farmer families across the country have been credited with Rs.2,000 each. The Union Ministry of Agriculture announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi released these funds at a special event held in Gujarat's Banaskantha district. Official statistics reveal that a total of over Rs.18,690 crore funds have been directly transferred to the accounts of around 9.34 crore farmers under this tranche. It is remarkable that since the inception of the PM-Kisan scheme, the total aid (cumulative disbursement) has reached more than Rs.4.64 lakh crore.

The government claims that the scheme is giving excellent results with the aim of providing financial security to the agricultural sector and ensuring that farmers do not face any financial difficulties in purchasing fertilizers and seeds. Economists opine that this direct cash transfer scheme is playing a vital role in strengthening the country's rural economy and improving the living standards of farmers. The government is taking appropriate steps to ensure that funds reach every eligible farmer by adding technology in a transparent manner. Officials have advised farmers who have technical glitches or who have not completed e-KYC to correct their details immediately so that they can avail the benefits in the upcoming installments without any interruption.
