Surya National & Defense Bureau, Jammu: The discovery of a suspicious pigeon near the India-Pakistan international border has created a stir in the security circles. A metal ring (Coded Ring) with secret symbols on the leg of this pigeon was found by the locals in the border village of Jammu district and a Pakistani currency note was tightly wrapped in the wings.

In the background of the ongoing smuggling of arms and drugs through drones across the borders, the army and police have carried out a wide investigation into whether these pigeons were used for espionage or information exchange. Police rushed to the scene on the information of the villagers: Locals noticed this pigeon lying suspiciously in the border village and immediately caught it and handed it over to the nearest police station. Security officials scrutinized the pigeon: A ring attached to the leg of a pigeon was found to have a code of some letters and secret numbers. A preliminary examination revealed that some other marks were written on a small piece of paper along with a Pakistani currency note. Intelligence sources are investigating whether the handlers on the other side of the border used it to pass information to their sleeper cells or spies here.

Vigilance intensified at the borders: With this development, the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police have been alerted and combing has been intensified in the nearby areas. As there have been instances of similar tagged pigeons being found in Samba, Kathua and RS Pura sectors in the past, the intelligence agencies are engaged in decoding the secret codes on the pigeons. Officials appealed to the people to immediately inform the security forces if they see any suspicious objects or birds near the border.
