Suryaa Now International Desk: Strict quarantine rules for 21 days for all citizens returning from neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo... The Ugandan government has officially announced that it will impose strict quarantine rules for 21 days on all citizens returning from neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. Surveillance at the country's borders has been stepped up in view of the recent outbreak of deadly diseases and health threats in the region. The health department officials disclosed that this decision has been taken with the aim of preventing the spread of the virus at an early stage.

Medical teams are keeping a close watch on everyone moving through the border areas. This quarantine provision was urgently implemented as part of preventive measures against various types of epidemics that are emerging in Congo from entering Uganda. All citizens with a history of travel are being identified and are being shifted to the quarantine period only after undergoing medical examination at designated health centers. This quarantine period has been fixed as twenty one days as per the guidelines of international health organizations.

Special medical camps have been set up at all major entry points so that any symptoms of the disease are immediately shifted to special isolation. The Ugandan government has made it clear that public health and safety is the top priority, even though this sudden quarantine decision has caused some inconvenience to residents of the border areas and business people traveling between the two countries. Keeping past experiences in mind, the staff at the border checkpoints have been doubled and all arrangements have been made to promptly identify suspected cases and provide appropriate treatment, officials of the health department said. Medical experts are of the opinion that due to these strict restrictions, the spread of infections can be effectively curbed.
