Kakinada: Uttarandhra and Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh are shaking due to severe cyclone 'Arnab'. As the advance outer ring of the cyclone hit the coast, the rains intensified across the coast.

The coastal people are panicking due to fierce gales and torrential rain. Especially in Kakinada, Yanam, Amalapuram, Uppaderi and other areas, hundreds of trees and electricity poles fell down due to strong winds. Traffic was completely blocked at many places due to the fallen trees on the roads. As a precautionary measure and to prevent electrical accidents, the authorities have pre-emptively suspended power supply (cut power) in many areas.

On the other hand, the sea has become very rough and the waves are raging. Yanam, Kakinada – Uppada beach road has been completely blocked by the authorities due to sea water entering the road. Officials are carrying out intensive relief operations and shifting the people of low-lying areas to resettlement centres. People have been warned not to come out of their homes unless there is an emergency.
