Suryaa National Desk: On the occasion of World Menopause Day on October 18, Union Ministry of AYUSH on Women's Health, Mental Wellbeing and Menopause... To mark the World Menopause Day on October 18, the Union Ministry of AYUSH has launched special awareness programs on women's health, mental stability and precautions to be taken during menopause. The Ministry emphasized the importance of comprehensive care, awareness seminars and scientific research in this crucial evolution of women's lives. The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CRAS) has revealed that efforts are being made to provide preventive solutions to menopause-related health problems in Ayurvedic methods. Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation, usually in women between the ages of 45 and 55.
Hormonal imbalances that occur during these changes can cause symptoms such as body heat, insomnia, mood swings, joint pain, and anxiety. In Ayurveda this phase is considered as 'Rajonivrtti'. AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha said that it is not a disease but a natural physiological change in women's body and Ayurvedic lifestyle and diet rules are very useful to deal with it effectively. CCRAS Director General Professor Rabinarayana Acharya said that extensive research is being done on traditional Ayurvedic medicines like Ashokarishta, Amalaki Rasayana, Lodhrasava, Ushirasava, Chandanadi Loha and Mukta Shukti for bone health and mental peace of women during menopause. But it is advised to use them only under the supervision of qualified doctors.
It has been revealed that bone density can be maintained by consuming properly balanced diet, calcium and protein rich foods. Experts confirm that yoga, meditation and pranayama are very beneficial for physical health as well as mental peace. Regular practice of Sitali Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama and Yoga Nidra along with Yogasanas like Sethubandhasana, Vitrakarani Asana, Marjaryasana and Shavasana will help you get rid of insomnia and stress problems. Ministry of AYUSH hopes that women can face the menopause phase with confidence by avoiding alcohol and smoking and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
