Suryaa National Desk: Two sisters have died following a trekking incident in the high-altitude Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. Family members have officially identified the bodies of the deceased. The sisters were part of a trekking group caught in adverse weather conditions and sudden snowstorms.

Local authorities and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams recovered the bodies and transported them to a hospital mortuary for identification. Medical professionals have preliminarily determined that the deaths were caused by hypothermia, resulting from extreme cold winds and plummeting temperatures.

Following the incident, the Uttarakhand Disaster Management Force, ITBP, and local police launched a search operation utilizing helicopters and special forces. Rescue efforts faced significant obstacles due to heavy snowfall.

The bodies have been moved to a local district hospital for post-mortem examinations. Following the completion of necessary legal procedures, the remains will be handed over to the family members for transport to their hometown. Officials have advised trekkers to adhere to local government permissions and weather warnings due to the hazardous nature of weather changes in the upper Himalayan regions.
