Suryaa National Desk: Security forces and enforcement agencies in Bihar have intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking across the state. According to recent data released by the Bihar Police, authorities seized 46,549 kilograms of ganja and 150 kilograms of heroin during widespread inspections conducted up to October 27. Officials estimate the market value of these seized substances to be in the hundreds of crores of rupees.
To control the illicit drug trade, a special task force established by the state government is coordinating with the Narcotics Control Bureau and local police to increase surveillance in border areas. Inspections are being conducted on suspicious vehicles entering the state through the international border with Nepal, as well as routes bordering West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Senior officials stated that strict surveillance has been implemented to dismantle networks attempting to use Bihar as a major transit corridor. Thousands of cases related to drug trafficking have been registered this year, leading to the arrest of several individuals, including key smugglers. Enhanced inspections continue at railway stations, bus terminals, and national highways based on intelligence reports.
