New Zealand Sets Unwanted Record Following Defeat to India

Suryaa Sports Desk: The New Zealand cricket team has set an unwanted record following a series of defeats against India. With a loss in the second ODI held in Wellington, New Zealand has now suffered 11 defeats across all formats against India within the current calendar year.

This result breaks a 21-year-old record for the most matches lost by a team against a single opponent in one calendar year. Previously, Australia held the top spot after defeating New Zealand in 10 matches across all formats in 2005, while England defeated them in nine matches in 2008. India has now surpassed these records with 11 victories in 2026. Trade analysts suggest that this number may increase as more matches remain in the current series.

Regarding the second ODI, the match was significantly interrupted by rain. Batting first, New Zealand was bowled out for 134 runs, with Indian bowler Garnoor Brar taking four wickets. Despite losing early wickets while chasing the target, India was in a better position according to the DLS method when rain halted play, resulting in an Indian victory.

With this win, India has taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. While New Zealand fans hope for improved performances in upcoming matches, the records currently being set by the Indian team have become a topic of discussion in cricket circles.
