Suryaa Entertainment Desk: The one-crore rupee contest associated with the suspense science fiction thriller Killer has become a topic of discussion in Tollywood. Directed by Purvaj, who also produced the film, the movie features Jyothi Purvaj in the lead role. Prior to the release, the production team announced a one-crore rupee prize for viewers who could correctly guess the film's main twist within a specific timeframe after the interval via WhatsApp.
Addressing concerns raised on social media regarding the contest and the film's collections, director Purvaj stated that the competition was conducted transparently under an agreement with a High Court lawyer. Although thousands of responses were received, the makers confirmed that no one correctly guessed the twist, which had been recorded by the team in advance.
Despite there being no winner for the grand prize, the production team selected ten individuals who provided the closest answers. These ten participants will each receive one lakh rupees, totaling ten lakh rupees in prize money.
The team officially announced that while the theatrical response did not meet expectations, the film generated significant profits through digital and other rights. Plans for a sequel, Killer 2, are underway. Analysts noted that while the innovative promotion generated interest, the screenplay's twists caused some confusion among the audience. The film is also preparing for an upcoming OTT release.
