Suryaa Sports Desk: Fans hoping to watch star Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in action in an upcoming home ODI match may face disappointment, as the venue for the first match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in December is likely to be shifted. Ongoing renovation and outfield development work at Delhi's prestigious Arun Jaitley Stadium is reportedly taking longer than expected to complete.
As per the schedule, the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka is set to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on December 13. However, work involving field drainage system upgrades and sand-based outfield construction is expected to require additional time. Due to these ongoing works, Ranji Trophy matches were previously relocated to an alternative ground. If the Delhi stadium is not ready within the required timeframe, the board is reportedly examining alternative options to relocate the match.
If a relocation occurs, it will disappoint cricket fans in Delhi who hoped to watch Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli play in his home city. Thousands of fans wished to see the senior players perform at Kohli's home ground. With renovation work not moving fast enough, clarity regarding the high-profile international match venue in Delhi is expected to be announced soon.
