Suryaa International Desk: Indian-American Harmeet Kaur Dhillon has resigned from her position as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Her departure follows the Republican Party's performance in the recent midterm elections.

Having served as the Civil Rights Chief for approximately 18 months under the Trump administration, Dhillon announced the conclusion of her tenure. On social media, she stated that leading the division was an honor. During her term, she focused on efforts to end diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and worked to protect the sports rights of women and girls. She expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump for the opportunity and stated that she intends to return to private legal practice for personal reasons.

Attorney General Todd Blanche accepted her resignation. He commended her for her commitment to the division over the past 18 months, noting her work in enforcing the law to protect the civil rights of American citizens. This marks the first resignation from a senior-level position in the Trump administration following the midterm election results. Experts suggest that other political appointees may also review their positions in the coming period.
