Trump Designates Oval Office and Cabinet Room as National Monuments

Suryaa International Desk: President Donald Trump has signed an official proclamation designating the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room as national monuments. This order aims to prevent future U.S. presidents from making structural changes to these rooms.

Following his second term inauguration, President Trump renovated the Oval Office, incorporating gold-toned frames, new paintings, curtains, and specific decorative elements. During the signing of the order, President Trump stated that the Oval Office represents the nation's greatness and should remain unchanged.

While the White House is already recognized as a national historic landmark, President Trump utilized executive authority under the Antiquities Act to grant these specific rooms national monument status. Legal experts note that future presidents possess the constitutional authority to revoke executive orders or proclamations issued by their predecessors, potentially allowing for the reversal of this decision.
