Anand suggested that the services provided by the government for the health protection of children, welfare of pregnant women and nutritional security should be effectively implemented at the field level.
On Tuesday, he paid a surprise visit to the Turkapalli Anganwadi center in the mandal and thoroughly inspected the nutrition, health services and other facilities provided to the children. The staff were asked whether they were providing quality nutritious food as per the prescribed plan. Besides inspecting the hygiene and sanitation management of the center, the stocks of vegetables, pulses and eggs which are provided as part of food to the children were checked. It was advised to take adequate precautions to prevent any disruption in food supply. Later, he inquired about the nutritional assistance, medical services and their health conditions being provided to the pregnant women. Dr. K.
Anand stated that pregnant women should be given the necessary nutrition on time and their health should be monitored regularly. He ordered that the medical staff and Anganwadi workers should work in coordination to protect the health of mothers and children by identifying nutritional deficiencies in children and take preventive measures. It was made clear that hygiene standards must be followed in Anganwadi centers and ensure that quality food is provided to children. It is suggested that the staff should perform their duties responsibly so that the nutritional and health services provided by the government reach everyone who deserves them.
