Surya Tourism & Cultural Bureau, Agra: The marble edifice Taj Mahal sparkles in the cool moonlight on the occasion of Sharad Poornima, giving visitors a new experience. A large number of tourists from the country and abroad flock to Agra for the night darshan of the Taj Mahal on the occasion of Ashvayuja Poornima (Sharad Poornima). Visitors were mesmerized by the magnificent 'Chamki' (lights) cast by the rays of the full moon falling on the pure white marble domes and pillars of the Taj Mahal.

Night darshan with strict rules: According to the Supreme Court guidelines, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will allow night darshan of the Taj Mahal for a total of five days on the full moon day and two days before it and two days after it. This special viewing, which lasts from 8 pm to 12 midnight, will be divided into a maximum of eight batches per day, with a total of 400 tourists allowed at a rate of 50 per batch. On Sharad Purnima night, special arrangements have been made for tourists to view the beauty of the Taj in the moonlight for half an hour from the viewing platform near the Royal Gate. Pre-Sold Tickets – Tourist Bustle: The night darshan on Sharad Purnima was hugely popular with tourists and all the online tickets were completely sold out days in advance.

Even tourists who did not get tickets to the Taj premises could see the Taj Mahal in the moonlight from Mehtab Bagh on the other side of the river Yamuna and view points set up by the Agra Development Authority. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and local police have made extensive security arrangements from Shilpagram to Taj premises for the safety of tourists.
