Surya National & Legal Desk, New Delhi: The issuance of eviction notices by the Land and Development Office (L&DO) under the Union Ministry of Urban Development to the centuries-old historic 'Race Course Mosque', which is very close to the Prime Minister's official residence in the national capital, New Delhi, has led to a political and communal uproar. The authorities issued orders to vacate the premises completely within six days considering it as an unauthorized occupation.

AIMIM chief, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed deep concern over this action taken by the government administration. Owaisi's Clarification of 1977 Gazetted Registered Waqf Property: Responding to these eviction notices, Owaisi reminded that this mosque is a legitimate waqf property officially registered as per Delhi Waqf Board Gazette Notification (1977) since 1970s. He criticized that it is illegal to suddenly issue notices declaring such an ancient and historical place of worship where devotees have been offering prayers for generations as an unauthorized structure.

He accused the Delhi Waqf Board of being indifferent and irresponsible on controversial issues. Appeal for the intervention of Union Minister Kiran Rijiju: Owaisi demanded that the Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju should immediately make arrangements to protect the mosque, which is a centuries-old heritage building. He appealed to the central government to stop the L&DVO officials from taking any hasty demolition steps and to look into the legal documents and do justice without threatening the existence of the mosque.
