Suryaa National Desk: The central government is aiming to provide scientific solutions to the worsening air pollution problem in the National Capital Region of Delhi-NCR. The Central Government has taken another important step towards providing scientific solutions to the worsening air pollution problem in the National Capital Region of Delhi-NCR. Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday formally inaugurated a special nuclear chemical analysis center set up to pinpoint the sources of pollutants, the nature of their emissions and their impact on public health. Pollution control measures will be strengthened with the opening of this state-of-the-art laboratory set up under Mission Mosam.

Official sources disclosed that the Minister inaugurated the Integrated Atmospheric Chemistry and Aerosol Toxicity Analysis Lab set up at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Delhi. Experts say that apart from just assessing the air quality indicators, the lab will help in real-time analysis of the actual sources of pollution. It can clearly distinguish elements such as vehicular smoke, industrial waste, construction dust and crop waste burning. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for continuous monitoring of particulate matter, toxic elements and chemical composition in the atmosphere.

The lab, linked to the Air Wise system, can also forecast pollution warnings for the next 72 hours. It is expected that this scientific information will become very useful for the authorities to take immediate measures for prevention of pollution by enhancing coordination between government departments.
