Surya Agriculture & Policy Bureau, New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Agriculture has registered unprecedented success in modernizing the country's agriculture sector and speeding up the delivery of government services to farmers. Five months ahead of the stipulated deadline.. By October 23, 2026, the target of creation of 11 crore unique farmer IDs has been successfully achieved.

Originally, March 2027 was set as the final deadline to complete this massive project, but the Department of Agriculture has announced that this milestone has been crossed at a record pace. Easier implementation of schemes – Check for involvement of middlemen: Through this unique 'Raitu ID' system, the identification process of farmers across the country is going to be fully digitized. Each farmer is allotted a unique number similar to Aadhaar. This will increase transparency in distribution of PM-kisan, crop insurance (PMFBY), subsidized fertilizers, seeds and institutional farm loans.

Apart from the hassle of submitting documents repeatedly, the benefits of government welfare are directly available to every eligible rice donor. Boost to Digital Agriculture Infrastructure: The Government has stepped up this activity as part of setting up 'Digital Public Infrastructure' (DPI) in the agriculture sector. By linking land records and farmer identification data, services at every stage from seed testing to sale of produce will be speeded up. This digital data will become crucial for banks and financial institutions to grant crop loans to farmers without any delay.
