The latest Test rankings released by the International Cricket Council have seen unexpected developments. Team India's star player Ravindra Jadeja, who has been maintaining his top position in Test cricket for a long time, has come to an end. South Africa's young pacer and all-rounder Marco Jansen overtook Jadeja to become the world's new number one Test all-rounder with a brilliant performance. Jadeja, who has been dominating world cricket for more than four years, had to lose his record top spot.
In the second Test against Australia, Marco Jansen showed extraordinary performance and received praise from all. Batting under difficult conditions, the South African star scored eighty-five runs in one hundred balls with an excellent batting performance. After that, he exploded in bowling and took five wickets for thirty-three runs and caused irreparable damage to the opposing team. It was this rare all-round performance that played a crucial role in Jansen's rise to the top of the International Cricket Council rankings. According to the latest update, Marco Janssen has taken the number one position with four hundred and fifty one points, while Ravindra Jadeja is confined to the second position with four hundred and twenty two points. Jadeja, who has been the Test number one all-rounder since March 2022, reached a new milestone by remaining at the top for more than a thousand days.
But based on current form and recent performances, Jansen has climbed five places to the top spot not only in the all-rounders list but also in the Test bowlers category. Marko Janssen, who won the top spot in the bowling category, pushed Australia's pace legend Mitchell Starc to the second spot. In addition, Jansen has improved by thirteen places and reached the fifty-sixth position in the Test batsmen's rankings. On the other hand, in the same match, South Africa's captain Temba Bavuma went close to a wonderful double century and scored one hundred and seventy nine runs in three hundred and thirty four balls. With this fine innings, Bavuma improved four places in the Test batsmen's list and jumped to the second best rank in his career.
