Suryaa National Desk: Surya National Bureau, Lucknow/New Delhi: A senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that there were huge irregularities and registration of strange names in Uttar Pradesh's voter list. Surya National Bureau, Lucknow/New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has raised the alarm that massive irregularities and strange names have been registered in the Uttar Pradesh voter list. He came under fire saying that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process undertaken in the state was completely biased and the Election Commission (EC) was acting as an agent of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party rather than constitutionally. In a press conference held in Lucknow, it was alleged along with the evidence that irregularities were committed by targeting a specific group in additions and deletions of votes.
Registration of strange names in the voter list: Sanjay Singh mentioned before the media that the most strange and unnatural things came to light during the scrutiny of the voter list. Irregularities such as inclusion of hundreds of unrelated voters under the names of some people's family members and registration of names of people belonging to different communities under the same guardian were alleged. He cited evidence that a huge number of voters were shown under the same address and name, out of which the majority of votes belonged to the minority communities. They were angry that they were making a mockery of democracy by stealing votes before the elections.
Deletion of lakhs of votes – Sanjay Singh questions EC: Sanjay Singh has criticized that there is a big conspiracy behind the deletion of names of around 2.90 crore voters during the preparation of the draft list in Uttar Pradesh, and later inclusion of lakhs of names without re-scrutiny. They demanded that the EC immediately disclose the details of Booth Level Officers (BLO) Form-10 of the voters removed under shifted or dead categories. He asked the Election Commission, which is supposed to be a constitutional body, to refrain from acting unilaterally, conduct an impartial investigation and take strict action against the erring officials.
