Suryaa International Desk: The Indonesian government has removed Presidential Chief of Staff Listyo Sigit Prabowo from his position following allegations of illegal phone tapping. The controversy involves the unauthorized surveillance of President Prabowo Subianto, cabinet ministers, political figures, and journalists.

Presidential spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government views the incident as a serious act of treason and a significant threat to national security. Preliminary investigations indicate that the surveillance operations were conducted without any legal authorization, compromising the security of the head of state and sensitive government information.

In addition to the removal of the Chief of Staff, security forces have taken two other high-ranking police officers into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. Reports suggest that the suspects attempted to delete internal data and call records once the surveillance operation was at risk of being exposed.

Special investigation teams are currently working to determine the motives behind the illegal surveillance, including potential internal political conspiracies or the involvement of foreign entities. Authorities are emphasizing that those responsible for compromising national security will be held accountable. The involvement of a former national police chief in the surveillance of the head of state has caused significant political unrest within Indonesian official circles.
