Suryaa National Desk: India and Myanmar have launched the first joint bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, titled 'RAHAT MITRA,' in Chennai. The exercise aims to strengthen defense cooperation, enhance mutual coordination in disaster management, and improve response capabilities during emergencies.

Coordinated by the Indian Navy, the exercise serves as a platform for both nations' armed forces to exchange professional experiences and strategic insights. Military personnel are receiving training on conducting joint immediate relief efforts and rescue operations during natural disasters. Defense sources stated that these exercises align with India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy and the 'MAHASAGAR' regional security vision.

As part of the opening ceremony, special training simulators were provided to the Myanmar military to assist in enhancing their defense capabilities. Experts suggest that such joint exercises will further advance the strategic partnership between the two countries.
