Suryaa Now Telangana Desk: Lingalaghanapur, Major News, Due to severe weather changes taking place all over the world, due to the effect of 'El Nino', there will be severe... Lingalaghanapur, Major News, Sarpanch Narsinga Ramakrishna, the first citizen of Nellutla village, expressed deep concern that there is a danger of severe drinking and irrigation water shortage in the villages in the coming summer season due to the severe weather changes taking place all over the world and the effect of 'El Nino'. He appealed to all the people of the village to use water very sparingly and responsibly from now on, keeping in mind the upcoming harsh conditions and dry weather. In a special awareness meeting held at the Nellutla Gram Panchayat office, he discussed extensively with the local public representatives, agricultural officials and farmers. On this occasion, Sarpanch Narsinga Ramakrishna said that due to the lack of rainfall in the current season, the ground water level is falling to a dangerous level day by day. He said that along with the ponds, ponds and wells in the village, agricultural boreholes are gradually disappearing.
Every citizen should take water conservation as a social responsibility to prevent the crisis from worsening in the coming days. The sarpanch suggested that the farmers should give up traditional farming methods to save the agricultural sector in this difficult situation. Instead of going towards crops like paddy which require a lot of water, the farmers have been asked to turn towards the cultivation of semi-arid crops like pulses, oilseeds and small grains which give high yields with less water. In this regard, the Agricultural Extension Officers (AEO) have been directed to provide appropriate technical advice and instructions to the farmers. He clarified that the only way to raise the ground water level is to drain the rainwater. Everyone has been called upon to establish rainwater harvesting pits in their home premises.
"Every drop of water we save today is a lifeline for our future generations. He urged all the villagers to fully cooperate in the early water conservation measures undertaken by the Panchayat. Village Upasarpanch Damera Kavya Prabhakar, Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO) Vinay Kumar, ward members Velpula Shobharani, Bojjam Sunita Prabhakar, Nalla Ajay, Battini Venu and Gorige Sailu participated in the programme.
